Muziris Heritage Tour
Having come to the Kerala shores in search of the spices, and later settling in and blending into the culture, the Jews who lived and traded in Kerala have left an indelible mark on the state’s history. St Thomas landed in Kodungallur in AD 52, and then in AD 72, when the Solomon Temple was destroyed and Jews were persecuted, they left for far off lands in search of livelihoods and safe havens.
We arrange day tours to the heritage sites of Muziris, by houseboats. It starts at Bens Homestay in Kothad and then proceeds to Fort Kochi, Chendamangalam and Paravur. The first of the seven churches built by St Thomas in India is the Kottakavu Church. And the very first mosque to be built in India, too, Cheraman Masjid, is built close to it. It was established in 11th century AD.
